Got my blood test results back and I have a high LDL cholesterol. WTF? It was 234 and it's supose to be under 200. The doctor told me to change my diet "Try fat-free mayo, fat free cheese or skim milk ". I told her I only eat chicken, eggs, rice and oatmeal but she didn't believe me. I have 6 months to get under 200 or I have to take some medication. Any ideas how to get it down?

As hard as we train and take care of our bodies we cannot out run our genetics. Does anyone else in your family have this? There is high cholesterol in my family and what has helped them is eating oatmeal. For some reason I think it helps to push through the "gunk" in the arteries. This is the slow cook kind, not the instant. But I am sure instant would be okay in these case cuz oatmeal is a bulker. Other than that, I would increase your overall fiber intake. Best wishes to you and keep us posted on your progress.

I bought some Steel Cut oats. I'm going to start eating more fish. When I was getting ready for my vacation last year I ate fish 2month straight and I got burned out pretty quick. Thats was a year ago so I'm going to try it again.

definitely take care of it now, I waited too late and have to take a pill every night. The pill works so I can concentrate on a steady diet plan without the worries.

If you want to take a little more aggressive approach heres some things that you can do. First avoid fried foods ie. fast food! Exercise, of course, but make sure that you hit it hard enough to sweat. Sweating helps to rid your body of bad things and will help with your Lipid profile.
You can eat more fruits and vegetables. The easy rule to go by, at first, is to use the stop light system. Eat as much green stuff as you can eat some yellow fruits and veggies and you can eat the red ones but only a few, of course tomatoes and apples are exceptions to the red rule.
A high fiber diet is always a plus for health problems. Switch to low fat milk, I drink 2%. You can also take Niacin and Omega 3 fish oil (Fish oil is good for people who don't really like fish) The entaric coated fish oil is good because it doesn't have that fishy taste.
I'm not an expert, I just like to try and help, if I can. This is what I do on the MMI forum. . . . . . . . . . . . . Red

Most do but its mostly HDL and thats usually OK. Testosterone gets made from colesterol, in your body, so there you go. Its a catch 22 thing, good and bad at the same time. Just stay on a good, clean, diet and you should be OK for many years to come.. . . . . . . .Red
