Do ya lift heavy for a long time/short time/intervals/or just between contests?

some lifts should be modified precontest but I believe you should always be lifting heavy.

You have to give your body a rest every now and then....Heavy all the time will just cause injury in the long run! You have to switch it up a bit to get your body to change with you instead of against you.

I change my routine every 4-6weeks. I will do hypertrophy training for 4weeks and then do compound training for 6weeks. This way my body does not adjust to the same routine and I get better results.

I go by how I feel, sometimes i can go heavy and sometimes i stay lighter....its not because of an injury but just how tired or drained i am on that particular day every once in awhile. other wise i usualy keep my reps in the 6-8 range.

I do not believe in ever going light. People often go light when they want to give their body a rest. I would rather not go to the gym at all and just take the day off then to go light. Taking the day off will probably make your body recuperate better than going light. You should only go lighter during precontest or a week or so after a contest. When I feel my body needs a rest, I just take a week off (still follow my diet plan). Going light is pointless!

Branch Warren has often said if he wants to give his body a rest, he would rather just take the day off, recuperate, and go back to lifting heavy. What is lifting light going to do? Technically, you really arent fully recuperating bc you are still lifting and on top of that, you arent getting big because you are lifting light.
