You really have to judge for yourself. Your body will tell you when to switch it up. Good sign is when you stop growing or you hit a wall. A little change will help you break through and continue to grow.

i'll change up a bit when i get bored with the same old thing, i mostly change up the split. presently doing calves/back/bis (mon, wed, fri) and then legs/chest/tris (tues, thurs, sat) i will do about 5-7 sets per muscle each day(sometimes a few more for back)splitting up having various light and heavy days, the monday and tues are always heaving since i'm rested up.

Dude that is a great routine!!! The more you keep things freash the better.....If you don't mind I am going to try your split up and see if I get any results....Thanks

Apparently, I have gotten stuck in my own training and that it is NECESSARY to switch up your routine's like every 6-8 weeks type deal. This is in order to "shock" the body in order to produce gains etc., etc.

I change about every 4 to 6 weeks. Most times the change isnt drastic. Like today I changed my shoulder workout by doing light deadlifts (up to 225 for 4 sets of 10) then went to bent flys for rear delts before shoulder pressing.
Before I used to do the deadlifts (light on shoulder day) then a few shrugs and right into military presses.
So yes it is a frequent change but not really. My workout schedule is also an eight day schedule with 3 rest days. 4 on one off, one on and 2 off. My body parts are devided into 4 parts also. It works well for me since I work an 8 day schedule. About every other week I will add or subtract exercises for one body part based on what part Im working on Monday and what the mirror tells me. When a rest day falls on Monday there is usually no change that week.Sounds complicated but its not really. Its simply a four day schedule modified to get one body part, not the same part any week, two workouts in a week and more rest days throwed in. Thats it . . . . . . . . .Red
