DONT go super heavy like all these guys do. Try going with lighter weight and comming up ..keep you head up and try to touch your shoulders to your ears. dont use your arms at all. also upright rows will help

You may try behind the back shrugs with a bar...High reps and low weight...

believe it or not i like to do light weight with high reps (25 for set) start with a weight that is comfortable for you then go up! you should feel a good pump and see your traps grow.
oh before i forget i do these every day and on shoulder day i run the rack for 4 sets of 4-6 reps with the heaviest weight i can go and then do a drop set of 10 reps to finish them off!~

I have never had any trouble with my traps when it comes to size. Mine grew by doing lactic acid training combined with very heavy shrugs. But now I've got troubles with them being too ... 'tight' - I need to stretch them and it hurts -.-'

definitely try lighter, i think most people going heavy try and use other muscles to compensate and these muscles end up taking over the work, or the wrist/grip gives out first. don't just toss the weights up, slow and controlled. also, when you try and squeeze at the top, try holding it up there for a few seconds. i find my veins pop out of my traps when i do this by the final set.
